Tiga Bekas Tokoh Antarabangsa Bukan Islam Menuntut Tuduhan Anwar Digugurkan

Selain 44 orang dikalangan kepimpinan cendekiawan Islam yang prihatin terhadap
tuduhan yang dilemparkan kepada Penasihat Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Dato’ Seri
Anwar Ibrahim, tiga bekas tokoh antarabangsa bukan Islam yang terkenal juga turut
memberi perhatian

Agensi AFP melaporkan, tiga tokoh tersebut, bekas Perdana Menteri Kanada,
Paul Martin, bekas Ketua Bank Dunia, James Wolfensohn dan bekas ketua Tabung
Kewangan Antarabangsa, Michael Camdessus telah mendesak kerajaan Malaysia
menggugurkan tuduhan terhadap Anwar.

menuntut supaya kerajaan Malaysia memberikan keringanan dan hormat kepada
Anwar memandangkan beliau adalah tokoh yang sangat penting dalam pendirian
luar negara Malaysia.

Mereka juga menyatakan keyakinan penuh kepada integriti moral Anwar dan
merasakan bahawa tindakan menangkap dan menyumbat Anwar kedalam lokap
kerana tuduhan meliwat bekas pembantu yang berumur 23 tahun, adalah agenda
yang mengamcam dan akan ‘menggelincirkan’ cubaan Anwar unutk kembali ke
persada politik Malaysia.

Mereka menyatakan bahawa tindakan kerajaan Malaysia yang memecat dan
memenjarakan bekas Timbalan Perdana Menteri itu pada tahun 1998 adalah
bermotifkan politik.
